South Korea Faces Nuclear Dilemma

korea

The nuclear stand-off between the South East Asian countries of South Korea and North Korea has reached epic proportions with South Korea now seriously mulling the thought of re-starting its nuclear weapons program. This controversial consideration is due to the fact that North Korea shows no sign of reducing its nuclear weapons program.

South Korea had long go abandoned its nuclear weapons proliferation program and had instead chosen The United States Of America as its ally in case of any future conflicts with the dictatorial regime of North Korea. But, lately South Korea as well as the rest of the world has been witnessing an increase in North Korea’s testing of nuclear weapons like missiles, etc. This is in spite of the many sanctions that the international world organizations, like The United Nations, have imposed on it ever since it stubbornly stuck to its nuclear program

In light of the recent developments that have happened across the border, South Korea is starting to feel pressure mount on it to restart its abandoned nuclear weapons program. It feels this may be the only way to make a strong enough statement to the leaders across the border. Political analysts have been speculating as to how South Korea will manage to procure the enormous funds that will be required to actively pursue a strong nuclear program. Many sources have confirmed that Seoul will not be able to raise this amount domestically and it will not be able to convince the international community about this matter either.

Without the permission of the International community, South Korea cannot hope to go forward with this plan. As, by doing so will land it in the same category as its neighbor at the North. Today North Korea remains as alienated as it was decades ago, with most of the global countries shunning it in favour of its southern neighbor.
